Jones Winery

A few friends joined me for a cordial Friday evening at the Jones Family Farm in Shelton, CT … and one even made the trek from NYC! We enjoyed a beautiful summer night along with a fresh light dinner and yummy Jones wines. The Harvest Kitchen chef create a refreshing menu of cool zucchini soup, quiche lorraine with leeks and bacon, and a “ground cherry” dessert … although, we learned that ground cherries come from the tomato family and have nothing to do with cherries! Along with dinner, we had a chance to try quite a variety of the Jones Winery classics (of which I have several stashed away in my wine rack for the perfect moment). And add to all that a history lesson about the Jones family and farm tour of the winery beginnings. It was a very pleasant evening, with just the right amount of food, wine and great company. And, I’m adding to my Jones Winery wine glass collection – 5 and counting …
